Module 4: Implementation Considerations for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment Programs in Rural Communities

One of the goals of rural HIV/AIDS programs is to ensure that people are able to access healthcare where they live. Access to care may be impacted by a number of factors, from stigma to a lack of transportation.

HIV/AIDS prevention programs in rural communities need to be tailored to address these factors and other considerations. In Module 4, we describe cross-cutting issues to consider prior to implementing an HIV/AIDS prevention or treatment program in a rural community.

For a broad overview of rural program implementation, see Implementing a Rural Community Health Program in the Rural Community Health Toolkit.
