  • Program Overview: Growing Up Fit Together2 (GUFT 2) is a classroom-based health education program that aims to reduce and eliminate health risk factors among students. GUFT 2 is based on the Center for Disease Prevention and Control’s Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model, which recognizes that academic success is strongly linked with health. GUFT 2 supports 21 schools in rural Louisiana to create and implement tailored action plans that improve children’s health behaviors, school health environments, and school health policies and practices. To help increase access to care for rural students, GUFT 2 coordinators also partner with state oral health programs to provide in-school oral health screenings, dental sealants, and fluoride varnish.
