Through the America's Farmers Grow Communities program, farmers enroll for a chance to direct $5,000 awards to local nonprofit organizations that are important to them and their communities.
Funds must be used for the following types of programs:
- Future Farmers of America
- 4-H
- School STEM programs
- Food and nutrition programs
- Science outreach programs
- Maternal, child, reproductive health support programs
- Public health programs
This program is designed for farmers who live in one of the eligible counties, are 21 years or older, and actively engaged in farming at least 250 acres. A farmer is considered "actively engaged in farming" if he or she performs the work on the farm, or hires and actively manages others who do so.
One nonprofit organization in each eligible county may receive a $5,000 award.
