NIMH Outreach Partnership Program

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) invites applicants to submit proposals for consideration as an NIMH Outreach Partner. Nonprofit organizations that conduct outreach focused on mental health are invited to submit proposals.
Organizations with experience in mental health disparities as defined by race or ethnicity, age (e.g., children, adolescents, transitional age youth, older adults), education or income, disability status, geographic location, risk status related to sex and gender, and among other populations identified to be at-risk for health disparities such as immigrants, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI), and military service members and their families are encouraged to apply.
Selected applicants will be expected to:
- Disseminate NIMH research and educational materials statewide
- Conduct science-based outreach project(s) addressing mental health disparities
- Promote involvement in NIMH and National Institutes of Health research
Non-governmental tax exempt organizations, with nonprofit status under any section of the United States tax code; and/or a state or local higher education institution, with nonprofit status, under any section of the United States tax code are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be located in one of 22 eligible states (listed on the program website) or the District of Columbia.
Each organization selected as an NIMH Outreach Partner will receive a $7,500 yearly stipend to conduct statewide, science-based mental health outreach and education efforts. Partners will also receive education, training, networking, and materials.
