The Primary Care Resource Initiative for Missouri (PRIMO) Student Loan Program offers forgivable loans to certain primary care health professionals who agree to practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area in Missouri upon completion of their degrees.

Applicants may either have loans forgiven by working in a rural or underserved area for the same amount of years as they accepted loans, or repay the balance at 9.5% simple interest.


Eligible professions include:

  • Primary care physicians
    • Internal medicine
    • Pediatrics
    • OBGYN
    • Family medicine
  • Primary care dentists
    • General dentistry
    • Pediatric dentistry
  • Dental hygienists

Amount of funding

Loan amounts are based on discipline and educational status.
