Purpose

Rhode Island Educational Loan Repayment Program for Primary Care Providers offers loan repayment assistance to new primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who are recruited to work in Rhode Island, with preference given to applicants who agree to practice in underserved or undersupplied areas.

Applicants must provide one year of service per year of funding, up to 4 years.

Eligibility

Physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners newly recruited to Rhode Island are eligible.

Amount of funding

Physicians can receive up to $20,000 per year.

Nurse practitioners and physician assistants can receive up to $10,000 per year.

Application process

Applicants must submit applications prior to beginning employment in Rhode Island. Links to required forms are available on the program website.
