Mississippi Community Development Block Grant Program: Economic Development and Public Facilities
The Mississippi Community Development Block Grant Program offers funding to counties and municipalities to assist with the location, expansion, or retention of job-creating businesses, including healthcare and other public facilities.
Projects must result in the creation or retention of jobs for low-to-moderate income individuals. Eligible projects include:
- Drainage systems
- Water and sewer systems
- Roads, bridges, and rail spurs
- Buildings (rehabilitation/expansion)
Counties or municipalities must apply on behalf of an industry.
Economic Development Program: $20,000 per job created or retained, up to $2,500,000
Public Facilities Program: $600,000 for cities and counties with a population greater than 3,500 people and $450,000 for cities and counties with a population under 3,500

Interested public agencies should contact Mississippi Development Authority’s Community Services Division at 601.359.3179 to initiate an application. Applications are taken annually and awarded on a competitive basis. Fund availability is determined annually from the One Year Action Plan.
