The Rural Child Poverty Nutrition Center Grant Program will offer funding for projects that use creative strategies to improve coordination among USDA-FNS Child Nutrition programs and other nutrition programs, with the aim of increasing participation rates among families with children in persistently poor, rural counties in 15 states.

Projects can focus on one or more of the following barriers to participation:

  • Information and awareness
  • Physical access to nutrition programs
  • Community resources, such as a school's capacity to house lunch programs
  • Social stigma

Government or nonprofit organizations located in one of the persistently poor counties within 15 states are eligible.

Application process

Applicants are encouraged, but not required to submit a letter of intent by September 1, 2015 via an online system.
