Purpose

The Minnesota Apprenticeship Initiative (MAI) provides grants to Minnesota employers to help them create or expand registered apprenticeship programs in 5 high-growth industries:

  • Healthcare services
  • Information technology
  • Transportation
  • Agriculture
  • Advanced manufacturing

Funding may be used for supplies and materials, instruction costs, and to establish apprenticeship infrastructure.

Eligibility
Employers in Minnesota are eligible to apply.

Amount of funding

Up to $5,000 for each registered apprentice.

Application process

When applications are being accepted, links to guidance and the application form are available on the program website.

Email completed applications to MAI.Grants@state.mn.us.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until target numbers are met, typically by summer of each year.
