Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia Group Respite and Early Memory Loss Grants provide funding for community-based, social model day programs that provide dementia-specific group activities for participants and respite for family caregivers and care partners.

Funded programs must offer:

  1. A day program for people who are cognitively impaired by Alzheimer's Disease or other dementia
  2. A regularly scheduled social model program of at least one, 4-hour session per week
  3. Counseling, education, and support for caregivers
  4. Information and referrals to appropriate health and social services

Rural programs are encouraged to apply.

Eligible applicants are nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations or public agencies.

Amount of funding

The award amount is $10,000 in year one, renewable for $5,000 in the second year, based on evaluation of the first year's activities and potential for future continuity of the program.
