Purpose

The Bus and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Program provides grants to assist in the financing of buses and bus facilities capital projects, including replacing, rehabilitating, purchasing, or leasing buses or related equipment, and rehabilitating, purchasing, constructing, or leasing bus-related facilities.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • State governments (including territories and Washington D.C.)
  • Local governmental authorities
  • Tribes

A rural area is defined as an area encompassing a population of less than 50,000 people that has not been designated in the most recent decennial census as an "urban area."

A minimum of 15% of the total program funding will be awarded to projects located in rural areas.

A non-federal match of at least 20% of the net project cost is required.
