This specific educational opportunity is based on the MMWR surveillance report "Invasive Cancer Incidence, 2004–2013, and Deaths, 2006–2015, in Nonmetropolitan and Metropolitan Counties of the United States." Upon completion of this 1 credit/contact hour continuing education activity, participants will be able to:
- Compare U.S. incidence of invasive cancer in nonmetropolitan and metropolitan counties from 2004 to 2013, based on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) surveillance study
- Assess cancer mortality in US nonmetropolitan and metropolitan counties from 2006 to 2015, based on a CDC surveillance study
- Describe evidence-based strategies to help achieve Healthy People 2020 objectives to lower cancer morbidity and mortality
This activity is intended for public health officials, hematologists, oncologists, internists, family medicine practitioners, nurses, obstetricians/gynecologists, pulmonologists, and other clinicians who treat and manage patients with or at risk for cancer.
