The goal of Medica Foundation's Strategic Initiatives Program is to provide more flexibility for grant partners to implement longer-term projects and evaluate impact. The Foundation requests concept papers for big and innovative solutions that serve as incubators for ideas, catalysts for systemic change, and that address the underlying causes and factors inhibiting optimal health.

Concept papers are accepted in the areas of:

  • Behavioral health
  • Child and youth health
  • Substance use disorder
  • healthy aging
  • Rural health
  • Disabilities
  • Healthcare access

Nonprofit organizations that are 501(c)(3) legal entities or governmental agencies are eligible to receive funding.

To qualify, organizations must operate within Medica's service areas in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Minnesota applicants must be located outside of the 7-county metro area which includes Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties.
