Purpose

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services offers grants to provide comprehensive substance use disorder services for women, ages 18-44, in urban and rural settings in Wisconsin. Target populations include pregnant women, postpartum women, parenting women, and women who are injection drug users.

Proposed projects should include coordinated services for women who are involved in multiple systems using a care coordination wrap-around approach.

Program goals are to:

  • Provide evidence-based and best practices outreach, intervention, treatment, care coordination, and support services
  • Increase engagement and retention in services, service satisfaction, and successful completion of services, improve quality of life, and reduce relapse or return to using drugs or alcohol
  • Reduce the number of deaths associated with substance use in the area served by the program, by implementing appropriate drug diversion prevention, overdose prevention, and other effective strategies
Eligibility

Eligible applicants are tribal governing bodies, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

Substance use disorder treatment and prevention services must be provided by a Division Quality Assurance (DQA) certified substance abuse treatment agency and by Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) licensed/certified counselors, and if applicable, a DHS-certified Peer Specialist.
