Minnesota Sexual Violence Prevention Grants provide funding to support community-driven, culturally relevant projects designed to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.

Funding may be used to:

  • Encourage the development and deployment of new prevention efforts
  • Enhance, sustain, or expand existing prevention efforts

Sexual violence includes:

  • Intimate partner violence
  • Sex trafficking
  • Domestic abuse
  • Sexual assault
  • Abusive international marriages
  • Forced marriages
  • Female mutilation

Successful projects will target the root causes of generational violence in communities. The program seeks to create new evidence for effective prevention-based programming, across different communities, including supporting promising practices in underserved populations and rural communities in Minnesota.


Eligible applicants are Minnesota-based nonprofit organizations that focus primarily on serving specific communities.

Award floor: $45,000 per year
Project period: 2 years
Estimated number of awards: 5-7
Estimated total program funding: $638,000
