Purpose

The National Center for Applied Transit Technology is providing in-person and off site technical assistance for small-urban, rural, and tribal transit agencies to develop technology action plans to help meet strategic goals.

Potential technologies to plan for include:

  • Mobility as a Service and One-Call/One-Click/One-Tap building block technologies
  • Ride hailing, microtransit, and other on-demand services that complement transit service
  • Automated vehicle planning and pilots
  • Real-time transit information
  • Open source software that enables interoperability of systems
  • Open data
  • Fare integration
  • Electric buses and related charging infrastructure or facilities
  • Other emerging technologies
Eligibility

Eligible participants include:

  • Providers of public transportation in small-urban (50,000-200,000 population), rural ( less than 50,000 population), and tribal communities
  • Private, nonprofit organizations that run public transportation services in these areas
  • Groups of agencies in small-urban/rural regions that intend to or are currently collaborating

Technical assistance will be provided at no cost for up to 4 transit agencies.
