The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) will provide grants to tribal colleges and universities (TCUs) to implement activities to support training and educational opportunities for dental therapy students, or to undertake a feasibility study to explore what it would take to begin a dental therapy training program at the TCU.
The overall goal is to develop a stronger and more reliant workforce for oral healthcare in Indian Country.
Applicants must be either a unit of government or a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that meets the following criteria:
- A Tribal college or university
- Have a strong interest and/or demonstrated commitment to improving or implementing a dental therapy training program
Priority will be given to tribal colleges and universities in states with dental therapy laws.
Two grants up to $15,000 each will be awarded.
The project period will run for 9 months, from approximately September 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.
