Purpose

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) will provide grants for projects that implement dental therapy in Tribal communities in states that have a legal mechanism for dental therapists to practice within the Indian health system.

Eligibility

Applicants must be either a unit of government or a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that meets the following criteria:

  • A federally recognized tribe, tribal health consortium, or a tribal organization
  • Have a strong interest and/or demonstrated commitment to increasing the access and quality of oral health services
  • Be in a state that has a legal mechanism for dental therapists to practice within the Indian health system
Geographic coverage
Available in 14 states.
Amount of funding

Three grants up to $25,000 each will be awarded.

The project period will run for 9 months, from approximately September 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.
