Purpose

The Appalachian Regional Commission's (ARC) READY Nonprofits Initiative will provide online training, coaching, and funding designed to build organizational capacity for nonprofit organizations in the Appalachian region.

Topic areas include:

  • Board development
  • Financial management
  • Fundraising
  • Human capital - recruitment and retention
  • Marketing communications
  • Programs and operations

The Fall 2022 course is a 10-week virtual training program beginning September 12, 2022 and includes instruction via cohorts of 3-4 organizations, as well as 5 individual coaching sessions. The program requires approximately 4-6 hours per week for instruction, discussions, assignments, and coaching.

Eligibility

The program is open to all nonprofit organizations located in the Appalachian Regional Commission service area.

Up to two board or staff members from each organization can participate. One participant must be the Executive Director or CEO.

Geographic coverage
Available in specific counties in 13 Appalachian states.
Amount of funding

This is a technical assistance opportunity provided at no cost to participants.

Organizations that complete the training will have the opportunity to receive a grant up to $25,000 to be used for any project identified during the course. Projects must be completed within 18 months of receiving the award.

Up to 22 cohorts from 75 nonprofit organizations will be selected for participation in the Fall 2022 term.
