Purpose

Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation Community Empowerment Grants will provide funding to Native American communities for community-led, culturally-rooted programs in one or more of the core areas:

  • Increasing opportunities for physical activity
  • Increasing access to healthy and affordable foods
  • Building youth leadership and advocacy
  • Deepening cultural connections

Funding will be awarded in 2 phases, an initial 5-month planning phase followed by a 17-month implementation phase.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

  • U.S. based Native American-controlled nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Federal and state recognized tribal governments or programs
  • Native American community based groups with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor
  • Schools, but only if they have 501(c)(3) status
