Purpose

This opportunity provides payments to California day care home (DCH) sponsors to expand participation in the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in low-income or rural areas. CACFP provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks in settings such as day care homes and contributes to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. Expansion payments are intended to cover administrative expenses such as outreach, recruitment, training, and enrollment of additional California DCH providers in CACFP.

Eligibility

Day care home sponsors currently approved by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide documentation that proposed new providers are located in rural or low-income areas.

Amount of funding

Sponsors may request a payment of $252 for each new provider added to their CACFP agreement. A maximum of 50 new providers may be added by a sponsor.
