USDA Helps Rural Communities Restore Water Systems Damaged by Disasters

Summary
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded two grants through the Water and Waste Disposal Technical Assistance and Training Grant program to help rural water and sewer utilities recover from recent and future natural disasters. These $500,000 grants will provide training and technical assistance, onsite repairs, and utility management advice for communities of 10,000 people or fewer and will help rural utilities apply for Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) disaster programs and file insurance recovery claims.
