Poverty Rate Lower in Rural America Than Urban Centers

According to the 2015 American Community Survey, households in rural areas have lower incomes than those in urban areas but they are less likely to live in poverty. In urban areas, 16% of people live below the official poverty line while only 13.3% of people in rural areas live below the official poverty line.
