In Rural Alabama, Community Gardens Help Address Obesity and Poverty

With the closest grocery store 23 miles away, Sumter County Alabama worked with their extension office to create a community garden, improving access to fresh produce and bringing the community together. Other communities in the state are also building community gardens and walking trails to help reduce obesity and improve community health.
