Jun 21, 2022 - Executive Order from the Office of the President to combat discrimination and eliminate disparities that impact lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI+) individuals and their families. This order directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to use the Department of HHS's authorities to protect LGBTQI+ individuals' access to medically necessary care and promote the adoption of promising policies and practices to support health equity. Among other things, this order also directs the Secretary of HHS to seek to expand the availability of family counseling and support programs in federally-funded programs and establish an initiative to address the health disparities facing LGBTQI+ youth and adults, prevent LGBTQI+ suicide, and address the barriers and that LGBTQI+ individuals and families face in accessing comprehensive healthcare.
