Mental Health Services Are a Critical Rural Need

Description
Reports high rates of depression, suicide, and addiction among rural people, and notes barriers to treatment including lack of anonymity, shortage of detoxification centers, transportation-related problems, and cultural reluctance to seek help with emotional and behavioral stresses. Notes that telemedicine has enabled psychiatrists to treat distance patients effectively, yet initiatives such as this have received little support.
