2021 RTT Collaborative Board - Call for Nominations
Sep 1, 2020 -- The RTT Collaborative (RTTC) is seeking nominations to fill two board positions. One position should be a director of a rural program, either of a medical school or other health professions school, or of a residency program. The second position will be filled by a medical student or resident. Both positions will serve for a one-year term starting January 1, 2021. Nominations are due by September 30, 2020.

Discussion Draft of the Preliminary Framework for Equitable Allocation of COVID-19 Vaccine
Sep 1, 2020 -- The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine released a discussion draft of the Preliminary Framework for Equitable Allocation of COVID-19 Vaccine report. Public input and comments are requested, especially from communities that are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to produce a final report. The public comment forum will be open for 4 days, from 12:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September 1, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Friday, September 4. There will also be a public listening session on Wednesday, September 2, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Eastern.

Federal Communications Commission, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and U.S. Department of Agriculture Team up for Rural Health Initiative
Sep 1, 2020 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Department of of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) announced a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together on the Rural Telehealth Initiative. This initiative seeks to keep rural Americans connected to vital healthcare services and providers via telehealth by increasing collaboration and information sharing among federal agencies to address health disparities, resolve service provider challenges, and promote broadband services and technology to rural areas in America.

Research Report: States with Broadband Funding Program Have Better Access
Sep 1, 2020 -- Discusses an analysis of three statewide broadband policies: availability of state-level funding, existence of a state-level broadband office or task force with full-time employees, and restrictions on municipal/cooperative broadband provision. Compares the effects of these policies on broadband availability in rural areas to the overall availability within the state.

CMS Posts Guidance for Implementing New Testing Requirements in Nursing Homes and Labs
Aug 26, 2020 -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released guidance for nursing homes and clinical laboratories to assist in efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. New guidance requires nursing homes to test all residents and staff, includes a new survey tool and steps facilities must take to meet testing requirements.

HRSA: Solicitation of Nominations for Membership To Serve on Tribal Advisory Council
Aug 27, 2020 -- The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is seeking nominations of tribal officials for consideration as voluntary delegates to serve on the HRSA Tribal Advisory Council (TAC).
