DHS: Establishing a Fixed Time Period of Admission and an Extension of Stay Procedure for Nonimmigrant Academic Students, Exchange Visitors, and Representatives of Foreign Information Media

Notice of final rule from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) amending its regulations to change the admission period in the F, J, and I classifications from duration of status to an admission for a fixed time period, and to change to admission and extension requirements. This rule also summarizes comments received in response to the August 28, 2025, proposed rule, including comments related to health workforce education and training, among other things. This rule is effective September 15, 2026.
