Evaluation Objectives

Substance use disorder treatment and prevention programs may include both process and outcome objectives.

Examples of process objectives could include:

  • Provide 100 clients with case management services in Year 1
  • Distribute naloxone and provide related training to 85% of police officers and emergency medical services staff in the community

Outcome objectives could include:

  • Reduce substance use disorder-related mortality by 5% in Year 1
  • Reduce overdose rates by 7% in Year 1
  • Reduce the proportion of individuals who report driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances in the past 30 days by 10%
  • Reduce the proportion of individuals who report using opioids for non-medical purposes by 10%
