News by Topic: Scholarships for health careers

May 22, 2019 - The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is requesting comments on updates to the Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) program, which offers scholarships for students with financial need, from disadvantaged backgrounds, who are enrolled in a nursing school or eligible health profession program. The changes would allow HRSA to target health professions experiencing the most severe shortages, increase the maximum scholarship award to $40,000 per student, and use a 3-year average for determining disadvantaged background eligibility. Comments are due June 21, 2019.
