National Rural Health Association
The Rural Health Fellows Program is designed to educate
and develop a community of rural health leaders who will
choose to serve in key positions in the National Rural
Health Association, affiliated rural health advocacy
groups, and local and state legislative bodies, with a
specific focus on health equity.
Selected participants will meet in person 3 times for
intensive leadership and advocacy training. Applicants
will also participate in conference calls and mentorship
activities and should be dedicated to advocating on
behalf of rural health.
Dates for training sessions are:
- February 7-9, 2023 at the Rural Health Policy
Institute in Washington, D.C.
- May 16-19, 2023 at the NRHA Annual Rural Health
Conference in San Diego, California
- February, 2024 at the Rural Health Policy Institute
in Washington, D.C.
- Be members of the NRHA and their state rural health
association or be willing to join before the start of the
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the
health of all people residing in rural America, through
the provision of equitable healthcare services.
- Be willing and able to commit to monthly conference
calls as part of the program and complete a project as a
member of an Action Project Team.
- Commit to attend all Rural Health Fellows training
Amount of funding
There is no program fee for participation in the the
Rural Health Fellows program.
10 - 15 participants are selected each year. Applicants
must have a sponsor (employer, corporate, or self)
responsible for all travel and lodging costs to attend
the training sessions.
