Purpose

The Award for Excellence in Program Innovation honors innovative best practice models in the field of health and aging and provides recognition and an opportunity to highlight the work at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association.

Programs should show:

  1. Creativity in project design
  2. Documented outcomes, impact, and benefits for adults 65 and older
  3. Replication potential with a focus on diverse groups of older adults
  4. Evidence of collaboration and partnerships

The winner is expected to attend the Aging and Public Health Section Awards Ceremony at the APHA Annual Meeting, which will be held on October 28, 2024 in Minneapolis, MN.

Eligibility

Nonprofit organizations operating innovative programs that target and show significant impact for adults age 65 and older are eligible for nomination.

Amount of funding

The winner receives a $1,000 award to assist with travel expenses to attend the Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association.
