South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium
The South Carolina Rural Physician Incentive Grant
Program makes cash awards to physicians who agree to
practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area of South
Carolina for up to 4 years.
Applications will be accepted from residents,
credentialed physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse
midwives, and physician assistants in South Carolina.
Preference is given to applicants based on:
- Level of community need
- Retention factors (such as education and/or training
in South Carolina, rural residency, AHEC Scholars
completion, and/or connection to the community)
- Underrepresented minority
- Committee recommendation
Amount of funding
Awards range from $7,500 to $25,000 per year based on
profession and location.
