Purpose

The David E. Knox Memorial Nursing Fellowship awards scholarships to students pursuing registered nursing degrees with the intent to work in small Alaskan communities.

Applicants must commit to a 1-year service contract to practice nursing in a small community in Alaska (less than 50,000 residents according to the most recent census figures).

Preference is given to:

  • Students eligible for graduation within 2 years
  • Students demonstrating financial need
  • Students who wish to practice in operating rooms
Eligibility

Applicants must have completed prerequisites for a nursing (BSN or RN) degree-seeking program and must be enrolled full-time in that program by the beginning of the next academic session or semester when the award will be used. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
