Purpose

The Indiana J-1 Visa Waiver Program offers a J-1 Visa waiver to foreign physicians who commit to serving for 3 years in an underserved area of Indiana, waiving the foreign medical residency requirement and allowing them to remain in the United States. The program is intended to provide physician services in areas which typically have difficulty attracting and retaining physicians.

Eligibility

Primary care, psychiatrist, and specialty care physicians are eligible to apply.

Preference is given to primary care applicants.

This is an incentive program that offers foreign physicians a visa waiver, allowing them to work in the United States.

Application process

Applicants must send an email on the day the completed application is mailed notifying the IPHCA of the submission. The email must include a tracking number for the application and the applicant's name in the subject line and include the applicant's contact information in the body of the email.

A copy of the email must be sent to nmorrison@indianapca.org, aalley@isdh.in.gov, and vbarrett@isdh.in.gov. Applications submitted without an accompanying email will only be considered after submissions that did provide email notification.
