Purpose

The Louisiana Conrad State 30 J-1 Visa Waiver Program offers a J-1 Visa waiver to foreign physicians who commit to serving for 3 years in an underserved area of Louisiana, waiving the foreign medical residency requirement and allowing them to remain in the United States. The program is intended to provide physician services in areas that typically have difficulty attracting and retaining physicians.

Eligibility

From October 1 to March 31st, 80% of the slots will be reserved for primary care physicians and 20% for specialists. If there are still slots remaining as of April 1st, all applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Primary care fields include pediatrics, ob/gyn, general internal medicine, family practice, general practice, and psychiatry.
