The Louisiana Conrad State 30 J-1 Visa Waiver Program offers a J-1 visa waiver to foreign physicians who commit to serving for 3 years in an approved area of Louisiana, waiving the foreign medical residency requirement and allowing them to remain in the United States. The program is intended to provide physician services in areas that typically have difficulty attracting and retaining physicians.

Primary care fields include pediatrics, obstetrician/gynecologist, internal medicine, geriatrics, family practice, forensic pathology, and psychiatry.

Priority is given to applicants who agree to serve in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and to physicians who have completed their residency or fellowship in Louisiana.

This program will support up to three forensic pathologists who agree to provide services for up to 5 years.

All applicants must be represented by a board-certified attorney.

This is an incentive program that offers foreign physicians a visa waiver, allowing them to work in the U.S.
