Purpose

The American Indian Scholars Program provides financial support for American Indian and Alaska Native scholars, health leaders, health professionals, and paraprofessionals serving tribal communities who are interested in attending the Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health Summer or Winter Institute courses at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

Winter Institute 2026 course offerings and dates:

  • An Interdisciplinary Approach to Understanding the Health of American Indians (online)
    January 5 - 9, 2026
    11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Eastern
  • Indigenous Harm Reduction (online)
    January 12 - 16, 2026
    3:00 - 6:30 p.m. Eastern
Eligibility

American Indian and Alaska Native scholars, health leaders, health professionals, and paraprofessionals serving tribal communities are eligible to apply regardless of background, identity, or tribal affiliation.

Amount of funding

The scholarship covers full academic credit tuition for one course. No textbook purchases are required.
