Purpose

The Nurse Scholar Program is a distance learning opportunity available to rural nurses designed to increase knowledge base in prevention, identification, and assessment of diseases related to agricultural work exposures.

Training topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Integration of agricultural health into practice
  • At-risk populations
  • Injury prevention
  • Zoonotic diseases
  • Hearing conservation
  • Chemical exposures
  • Respiratory health
  • Ergonomics
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Skin cancer
  • Behavioral health
Eligibility

Rural nurses are eligible to apply. Applicants must commit to completion of the full course.

Amount of funding

The cost of the program is $900.

A 50% nonprofit registration rate ($450) is available for nurses working for nonprofit organizations, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, government agencies, and educational institutions.

Participants receive 18 credit hours of continuing education.
