The Hawaii Pacific Basic AHEC provides placement and
financial assistance for medical students and residents
who would like to gain clinical experience in rural
Hawaii sites and rural/remote sites in the Pacific Islands. Rotations are
typically 4 weeks.
- American Samoa
Medical students and residents are eligible to apply.
Unless approved in advance, resident physicians must be a
PGY2 level or higher.
Hawaii and Pacific territories (American Samoa, Guam, Hilo, Kauai, Maui, Palau, and Pohnpei)
Amount of funding
University of Hawaii students and graduates may receive
up to $2,500 for travel and living expenses.
Non-University of Hawaii students and residents may
receive a $250 stipend for travel expenses.
