Hawaii Pacific Basin Rural Rotations
The Hawaii Pacific Basin AHEC provides placement and financial assistance for medical students and residents who would like to gain clinical experience in rural and remote sites in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
Rotations must be a minimum of 4 consecutive weeks. Non-University of Hawaii students are responsible for securing their own placement at a rural site.
Locations include:
- American Samoa
- Guam
- Hilo
- Kauai
- Maui
- Palau
- Pohnpei
Medical students and residents are eligible to apply. Unless approved in advance, resident physicians must be a PGY2 level or higher.
University of Hawaii students and graduates may be able to receive up to $2,500 for travel and living expenses.
Non-University of Hawaii students and residents may receive a $250 stipend for travel expenses.

Applications must be submitted a minimum of 3-4 months before the desired rotation dates.
