Iowa Department of Public Health
The Iowa Department of Public Health will provide funding
to qualified applicants for the psychiatric training of
additional physician assistants (PA) and nurse
practitioners (NP) who will provide mental health
services in rural, underserved areas of Iowa.
Awardees are required to:
- Identify and implement measures to enhance current
recruitment tools and resources to increase interest in a
PA psychiatry fellowship program and/or Psychiatric
Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program
- Increase annually the admission of PA psychiatry
fellows and/or PMHNP students
Eligible applicants are Physician Assistant in Psychiatry
Fellowship programs and accredited Psychiatric Mental
Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) programs located in
Amount of funding
Award ceiling: Up to $150,000
Project period: 9 months
Contracts may be renewed for up to 3 additional years, at
the discretion of the Iowa Department of Public Health.
