The Georgia State Office of Rural Health will provide grants for rural hospitals under 2 funding tracks.
Track 1: Hospital stabilization
- Option 1.1
- Healthcare access and/or expansion
- Recruitment and retention
- Reduce existing debt
- Option 1.2
- Waste reduction
- Internal labor cost reduction
- Increase volume and throughput
- Address growth and revenue leakage
- Rapid budget variance response
Track 2: Graduate medical education
- Option 2.1
- Program improvement/expansion
- Spatial improvement/expansion
- Program staffing and administration
- Marketing and recruitment
- Option 2.2
- Hire consultants for feasibility study, program planning, and/or completion of application
- Hire financial consultants to evaluate program costs, develop a budget, and secure funding for the program
- Salary support for program director, coordinator, and/or other required program staff
- Other administrative or institutional costs associated with application requirements
To be considered eligible, the applicant must:
- Be located within the counties designated as rural as defined in the Rural Hospital Organization Assistance Act of 2017 or a county with a Critical Access Hospital
- Be in good standing to conduct business with the Department of Community Heath and State Office of Rural Health
- Be listed on the Rural Hospital Tax Credit (RHTC) 2023 Ranking of Financial Need
Award ceiling: $1,000,000
Award floor: $250,000
Project period: Up to 2 years
Estimated number of awards: 15
