The Healthcare Association of New York State offers a learning community in New York designed for hospitals pursuing geriatric emergency department accreditation. The goal is to ensure older adults receive well-coordinated, appropriate, quality care in emergency departments. Hospitals in rural communities are encouraged to participate.
The collaborative will promote improvements in:
- Staffing and education
- Geriatric-focused policies and protocols, including transitions of care
- Quality improvement and metrics
- Optimal preparation of the environment
Hospitals in New York are eligible to apply.
There are no fees to participate in the collaborative or apply for initial Level 3 (Bronze) accreditation.
Scholarships to support the Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation teams are available on a limited basis.
