Veterans Affairs Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP)
This program, HPSP, provides scholarships for health professions students in disciplines for which recruitment or retention is difficult, as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. A minimum service obligation of 2 years is required.
Disciplines include:
- Physician (MD/DO)
- Social worker (Masters)
- Clinical psychologist (Doctorate)
- Nurse practitioner (Masters/Doctorate)
- Physician assistant (Masters)
- Nurse (ADN/BSN)
- Visual impairment and orientation and mobility professionals
Vet Center program disciplines include: psychology, social work, licensed professional mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist.
Applicants from rural communities are encouraged.
Applicants must be currently enrolled or be accepted for full-time enrollment in an accredited academic program that will qualify for employment in one of the professional fields associated with the scholarship program.

Scholarship recipients will receive:
- 100% of tuition and required fees
- $1,328 per month stipend
- A stipend to help cover books and supplies
