Purpose

The Minnesota Office of Rural Health and Primary Care will provide loan repayment assistance for registered nurses in Minnesota nonprofit hospitals or public hospitals who agree to practice work in-person in direct patient care in the state.

There is a service requirement for a minimum of 2 years.

Eligibility

Registered nurses (RNs) must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have a permanent and unrestricted license to practice independently and unsupervised in the state of Minnesota by March 1, 2027
  • Work in a nonprofit or public hospital located in Minnesota by the contract start date
  • Have qualified educational loans that include government, commercial, and foundation loans for actual costs paid for tuition and reasonable education/living expenses related to the past graduate or undergraduate education
  • Have at least $6,000 in loans that are not in current or active default
