Minnesota Health Care Loan Forgiveness for Registered Nurses in Nonprofit Hospitals

The Minnesota Office of Rural Health and Primary Care will provide loan repayment assistance for registered nurses in nonprofit hospitals who agree to practice in a healthcare shortage area of Minnesota.
There is a service requirement for a minimum of 2 years, with the option to extend an additional 2 years.
Eligibility requirements:
- Have a permanent and unrestricted license to practice independently and unsupervised in the state of Minnesota by March of 2025
- Work in a nonprofit or public hospital located in Minnesota by the contract start date
- Have qualified educational loans that include include government, commercial, and foundation loans for actual costs paid for tuition and reasonable education/living expenses related to the past graduate or undergraduate education
- Have at least $6,000 in loans that are not in current or active default
$6,000 for a minimum of 2 years not to exceed $12,000 total or the balance of the designated loans, whichever is less.
