Purpose

This opportunity will provide planning grants to support tribes in developing an AmeriCorps program that will engage AmeriCorps members in implementing evidence-based interventions to solve community problems.

Priority is given to proposals that design AmeriCorps programs to meet specific community needs and demonstrate the ability to to transform the planning grant award into an application for AmeriCorps programming the following year.

AmeriCorps focus areas include:

  • Civic engagement, social cohesion, and youth mental health
  • Economic opportunities
  • Sustainable food systems and agriculture
  • Education
  • Healthy futures
  • Veterans and military families
Eligibility

Match requirements are waived for this funding opportunity, but match replacement funds are available for Native Nation cost reimbursement applicants who certify that they are "severely economically distressed communities" as defined by 42 U.S.C. 12645d(b). Match replacement funds are additional AmeriCorps funds up to the amount that would have been contributed by the recipient if the match requirements were not waived.
