Purpose

The STTARS Indigenous Safe Housing Center will offer grants for COVID-19 mitigation that supports tribal programs and community organizations serving indigenous survivors of gender-based violence at the intersection of housing instability and homelessness.

Funding may be used for:

  • Housing application fees, first and last month's rent, utility deposits, and rental assistance
  • Test kits and PPE
  • Transportation vouchers
  • Hotel vouchers
  • Emergency food and water
  • Care kits
  • Pandemic-related ceremony, healing, and mental health services
  • Cleaning supplies and air purifiers
  • Technology to assist with remote work and case management
  • Wellness activities
  • Emergency funds to address pandemic-related depletion of employee/staff time-off
Eligibility

Eligible applicants are tribal domestic violence programs, shelters, and tribal nonprofit organizations.
