Agricultural Safety and Health Pilot Projects Grants

The Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH) is offering grants to address health and safety issues related to agricultural workers and their families in the upper midwest region.
- Developing innovative research in agricultural safety and health with strong potential to secure future extramural funding
- Exploring and characterizing emerging issues that impact the health and safety of agricultural workers and their families
- Leveraging multidisciplinary collaboration to generate novel insights or approaches in agricultural health and safety
Eligible applicants are investigators working in academic, government, community, industry or healthcare settings who have the knowledge, skills, and ability to carry out the proposed work. Special preference is given to investigators in the upper midwest region.
Award ceiling: $30,000
Award floor: $5,000
Estimated number of awards: 3
Develop a one page pre-proposal that addresses the points:
- Summary of the problem, including who is affected and how it relates to agriculture in the upper midwest institutions
- The organizations and individuals involved
- Specific hypothesis/objective to be tested or achieved
- Population to be studied/engaged
- Expected outcome
- Potential for future funding to extend this work and potential funding sources
- Approximate cost (non-binding)
Email pre-proposals to umash@umn.edu by November 10, 2025. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal, with a deadline of January 5, 2026.
