Purpose

The Brave Heart Fellowship is an environmental justice leadership program for Native youth. The focus is on advancing food sovereignty and protecting traditional lands, waterways, and sacred sites.

Fellows are expected to complete projects and commit time to related activities, including:

  • Brave Heart Kickoff Week: Four 90-minute nightly Zoom meetings January 13-16, 2025
  • Monthly 60-minute Zoom meetings to network with one another, learn from environmental experts and receive project support
  • An in-person convening (May 28-31, 2025)

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria:

  • Self-identify as Native or Indigenous
  • Between the ages of 18-24 years
  • Currently reside in Alaska, Northern California, Idaho, Oregon, or Washington
Geographic coverage
Alaska, Northern California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington
Amount of funding

This is an educational opportunity provided at no cost to participants. Travel costs will be covered for participants who attend the in-person convening.
