Tribal Agriculture Fellowship (TAF)

The Tribal Agriculture Fellowship helps Native students achieve their educational goals leading to careers in agriculture.
Past fellows have studied:
- Food sovereignty
- Nutrition
- Indigenous geography of wellness
- Indigenous food, water, and energy systems
- Sustainable agriculture and rangeland management
- Ecology and conservation
- Agriculture education
- Farm management
- Agribusiness
- Veterinary medicine
- Biological engineering
Selected fellows will be required to:
- Maintain full time enrollment status throughout the fellowship
- Sustain suitable academic progress and provide updates on your scholarly achievements and academic pursuits
- Attend four quarterly mandatory meetings and the annual Student Retreat, if able staff
- Participate in all TAF required activities
- Provide semester updates to TAF Program Coordinator
- Serve as a peer mentor to upcoming Fellows
Eligible applicants are Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or First Nations students pursuing technical or certification degrees related to the agriculture industry. Examples of eligible degrees are available on the program website.
Applicants must:
- Provide proof of federal or state Tribal enrollment or community connectedness
- Maintain a 2.75 GPA or satisfactory program and apprenticeship hours
Selected fellows will receive:
- Tuition and fees
- Living stipend
- Mentoring and support
- Educational programming
- Professional development
