The School-Based Mental Health Program (SBMH) from the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education in the U.S. Department of Education is offering grants for state educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and consortia of LEAs to increase the number of credentialed school-based mental health services providers delivering mental health services to students in high-need LEAs.
Proposals should demonstrate a plan to:
- Recruit and retain credentialed school psychologists
- Increase the number of credentialed school psychologists able to deliver intensive mental health services, interventions, and build capacity and local support to continue services beyond the life of the grant
Priority is given to proposals that:
- SEAs proposing respecialization for existing professionals to become credentialed school psychologists
- Rural applicants as determined by the National Center for Education Statistics locale codes 32, 33, 41, 42, or 43
Eligible applicants for this program are one or both of SEAs or LEAs as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801, including consortia of LEAs.
Estimated range of awards: $1,250,000-$1,750,000
Project period: Up to 4 years
